PROINVERSIÓN WILL DECLARATE FOUR PRIVATE INITIATIVES OF INTEREST FOR US$ 527 MILLION BEFORE OF 2024
Lima, August 13, 2024.- Before the end of 2024, the Private Investment Promotion Agency - PROINVERSIÓN plans to declare four unsolicited proposals of interest, which will represent an estimated investment of $527 million for high-impact sectors such as sanitation and education, to be developed in Lima, Cajamarca, Ica, and San Martín.
The package to be declared of interest consists of three Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP) located in Chincha (US$ 96.5 million), Cajamarca (US$ 70 million) and San Martin (US$ 105 million).
It also includes the co-financed unsolicited proposal for Schools at Risk (CER) in Metropolitan Lima for $255 million, through which 13 educational institutions will be built and modernized to benefit thousands of children in basic education.
After the declaration of interest, a window of 90 calendar days will be opened in each case for any third party to submit an expression of interest or otherwise, PROINVERSIÓN will proceed with the direct award of projects to their respective proponents, in accordance with the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Law. However, if one or more third parties are interested in an initiative, the agency will proceed with the public tender (selection process).
With this, some of the four detailed projects may be awarded directly in the first quarter of 2025 and, in the cases in which they would go to public tender, the awards could be made in the second half of next year.
SIGNIFICANT ADVANCE
In the first half of 2024, PROINVERSIÓN awarded six public-private investment projects with an investment commitment of US$ 5070 million, the highest investment amount in the last 10 years, and in the second half of the year it expects to award 17 projects for more than US$ 3000 million in strategic sectors such as electricity, sanitation, roads, railways, health and industrial development.
By 2025, it is planned to award 43 projects under PPPs and Projects in Assets amounting to $8.343 billion, and in 2026, another 27 public-private projects requiring an investment of $8.617 billion.
