PROINVERSIÓN ASSESSES ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL IMPACTS OF PPP CONCESSIONS
Lima, April 12, 2025.- The Private Investment Promotion Agency (PROINVERSIÓN) presented progress reports on economic and social impact studies of infrastructure project concessions under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model in key sectors such as ports, road transport, telecommunications, sanitation, and health.
The studies were prepared by PROINVERSIÓN's Data Analysis, Research, and Strategic Intelligence Unit (UADIIE), created in November 2023.
To date, PROINVERSIÓN's UADIIE has been preparing statistical and economic analysis documents that have enabled PROINVERSIÓN to currently have five working documents, which have been reviewed by experts supported by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
In addition, the UADIIE and the IDB are collaborating in identifying and measuring project performance indicators in the formulation, structuring, transaction, and contract execution phases, thus covering all phases of PPP processes.
The progress was presented by PROINVERSIÓN's Director of Investor Services, Iván Lucich, at the event "Transforming Infrastructure with Strategic Investments – Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Portfolios and Projects in Assets (PA) 2025-2026," organized by PROINVERSIÓN.
The support of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) contributes greatly to the adoption of best practices in impact assessment. Thanks to this joint effort, PROINVERSIÓN has been recognized as a Pioneer Member of the PPP Evaluation Network in Latin America, consolidating its leadership and reiterating its commitment to the continuous improvement of PPP project evaluation processes in the region.
The Minister of Economy and Finance, José Salardi, congratulated the Data Analysis, Research, and Strategic Intelligence Unit (UADIIE) on its work during these first few years and commented that all institutions should write their own history. "There is still much to be said about the benefits that PPPs have generated for the country. This is a big step forward," he said.
As part of its forward-looking vision for the benefit of the country, the UADIIE will continue to strengthen its work with the publication of new working papers and research books on private investment in PPPs, as well as the preparation of the 2024 Statistical Yearbook and other institutional documents. Efforts will also be made to promote the creation of the PROINVERSIÓN Observatory, a platform that will centralize key information for the analysis and monitoring of investments.
In addition, as part of the knowledge dissemination strategy, preparations are underway for the launch of “ProInvestment” magazine, a new publication specializing in investment and infrastructure development. All of this will also lead to greater institutional support, reaffirming PROINVERSIÓN's commitment to transparency, knowledge promotion, and continuous improvement in the evaluation of infrastructure investment in the country.
