PROINVERSIÓN WILL PROMOTE THE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF FIVE SPORTS VENUES WITH WORKS FOR TAXES
Lima, February 14, 2025.- At a press conference, the Private Investment Promotion Agency – PROINVERSIÓN and the Peruvian Institute of Sport (IPD) announced that the Operation and Maintenance of five sports venues managed by the Special Legacy Project will be executed through the Works for Taxes (OxI) mechanism.
Meanwhile, the management of the Pan-American Village will be executed through the Projects in Assets (PA) scheme.
The executive director of PROINVERSIÓN, Luis Del Carpio, said that through Works for Taxes, the sustainability of the five sports venues will be generated with the high standards that characterize the investment modalities promoted by the agency, thus contributing to the success of the Lima 2027 Pan American Games. He also emphasized that the Comptroller General of the Republic will participate in these Works for Taxes processes, in accordance with the regulations.
Del Carpio also recalled that PROINVERSIÓN has previously contributed to national sports by promoting the High-Performance Surfing Center at Punta Rocas in 2019, which was executed through Works for Taxes with an investment of more than S/ 39 million.
"The Works for Taxes mechanism has proven to be successful at the national level. Last year, a historic record was achieved in Works for Taxes with the awarding of more than S/ 4.2 billion in 126 projects in Health (50%), Education (22%) and Transport (13%), among others. That is why we hope to replicate this successful experience in favor of national sports”, added the head of PROINVERSIÓN.
SPORTS CENTER MANAGEMENT
In turn, the president of the IPD, Federico Tong, announced that, in coordination with the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Education and PROINVERSIÓN, the execution of 40 sports centers in 16 regions of the country is being negotiated with investment of more than S/ 600 million.
The head of the IPD, Federico Tong, pointed out that these key initiatives will be developed through Works for Taxes and Projects in Assets, which will strengthen the sports infrastructure and generate more opportunities for the practice of sports in the country.
He announced that, to date, the IPD has already received 11 unsolicited proposals to modernize and refurbish sports centers in the regions of Tumbes, Lambayeque, La Libertad, Junín and Lima.
