PROINVERSION WILL AWARD 12 ELECTRICITY PROJECTS FOR US$ 676 MILLION BETWEEN AUGUST AND DECEMBER 2024
Lima, August 12, 2024.- Between August and December 2024, the Private Investment Promotion Agency - PROINVERSIÓN will award 12 electric transmission and substation projects, commissioned by the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM), which will benefit 7 million inhabitants with an investment of US$ 676 million.
The 12 projects grouped in Groups 2, 3, and 4 of transmission and electrical substations will have an impact on the domestic sector, productive activities, commerce, and services in Lima, Ica, Ayacucho, Arequipa, Apurímac, Puno, Áncash, and Ucayali.
According to the schedule, at the end of August, Group 2, which includes five transmission and electrical substation projects requiring $441 million, will be awarded. These projects will benefit 4 million people in Lima, Ica, and Ayacucho.
This process involves three bidders and includes the “500 kV Chilca CTM-Carabayllo Transmission Line - Third Circuit”; “500/220 kV New Bicentenario Substation”; “220 kV Chavarría – Santa Rosa – Carapongo Link Reconfiguration”; “New 220 kV Muyurina Substation, New Ayacucho Substation, 220 kV Muyurina-Ayacucho Transmission Line”; and the “Extension of Supply Capacity of the Ica Electrical System (ITC Project).”
Then, in September, five interested parties will compete for Group 3, which includes four other electricity projects requiring US$ 134 million to benefit 2.3 million people in Apurímac, Arequipa, Puno and Lima. This package includes the “220 kV New Palca Substation, 220 kV Palca-La Pascana Transmission Line (Arequipa)”; “220 kV Planicie – Industriales Link (Lima)”; “138 kV Abancay Nueva – Andahuaylas Link (Apurímac)”; and “138 kV San Rafael – Ananea Link (Puno).
Meanwhile, Group 4, which includes three other projects, will be awarded in December with an investment of approximately US$ 101 million, benefiting 700,000 people in Ucayali (Padre Abad and Coronel Portillo), Junín (Chanchamayo) and Áncash (Huaylas and Huaraz). This group includes the projects “220 kV Aguaytía – Pucallpa Link,” “138-60KV Reliability Improvement of the Tarma – Chanchamayo Electrical System,” and “Increase of Capacity and Reliability of Supply for the Huaraz Electrical System. Huaylas and Huaraz".
The planned awards, until the end of 2024, are part of the package of 18 electricity transmission projects that the Ministry of Energy and Mines entrusted to PROINVERSIÓN in February 2023 within the framework of the 2023 - 2032 Transmission Plan to be promoted through Public-Private Partnerships (PPP). In this case, Group 1, comprising three projects (US$ 329 million), was awarded in June and will benefit one million people in Ica and Arequipa.
