PROINVERSIÓN joins efforts with Tacna authorities to promote investment projects
Lima, September 22, 2025.- As part of its decentralized work strategy, the Executive Director of the Private Investment Promotion Agency (PROINVERSIÓN), Tabata Vivanco del Castillo, held a series of meetings with regional and local authorities of Tacna with the aim of joining efforts and promoting investment projects through the mechanisms of Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs), Projects in Assets, and Works for Taxes (OxI).
On the first day of activities, the Executive Director met with the Regional Governor of Tacna, Luis Torres, to review the portfolio of projects the region seeks to develop under the PPP modality, highlighting the Tacna – Arica Railway and Puerto Grau.
Currently, the Tacna – Arica Railway operates with two daily trips in each direction between the two cities, using an old railcar that has limitations and low reliability. The modernization of the service through a PPP will improve its efficiency and ease congestion at the Santa Rosa border crossing, thereby facilitating transit between Peru and Chile.
During the meeting, PROINVERSIÓN and the Regional Government agreed to work jointly to make these strategic projects viable, which will contribute to closing infrastructure and public service gaps in Tacna.
Additionally, the head of PROINVERSIÓN met with the Mayor of the Provincial Municipality of Tacna, Pascual Milton Güisa, who presented the progress of local initiatives and outlined a municipal market project to be implemented under the Projects in Assets modality.
Currently, Tacna has a budgetary capacity of S/ 1,821 million to carry out projects under the Works for Taxes modality, according to the annual limits authorized for the issuance of Regional and Local Public Investment Certificates – Public Treasury (CIPRL). Of this total, the Regional Government has S/ 493 million, local governments S/ 1,231 million, and public universities S/ 96 million.
At the conclusion of the meetings, the Executive Director of PROINVERSIÓN reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to continue working closely with regional and local authorities. "Our goal is to identify, promote, and implement high-impact projects that contribute to the economic and social development of the region, generating better services and opportunities for the people of Tacna,” emphasized Tabata Vivanco del Castillo.
PROINVERSIÓN’s visit to Tacna is part of the Agency’s institutional policy to strengthen coordination with regional and local governments in order to promote investments that improve citizens’ quality of life.
