BETWEEN JANUARY AND AUGUST, 58 WORKS WERE AWARDED THROUGH WORKS FOR TAXES OF S/ 2,351 MILLION
Lima, September 4, 2024.- Between January and August 2024, 58 projects were awarded through Works for Taxes (OXi) with a cumulative investment of S/ 2,351 million, the highest amount since the launch of this mechanism, 16 years ago, by the Private Investment Promotion Agency — PROINVERSIÓN.
The director of Decentralized Investments at PROINVERSIÓN, Denisse Miralles, explained that the result shows the articulated work that the agency has been doing with public entities and the private sector to help close infrastructure gaps, especially in a decentralized manner.
“This effort has the technical and legal support of PROINVERSIÓN, which provides assistance in all phases of the project, from prioritization to its adequate and timely delivery to the population. In this sense, the Works for Taxes mechanism has become the most effective, transparent and fastest way to execute public investments,” said Miralles.
In fact, between January and August 2024, 37 new companies and 17 public entities from 10 departments used this investment mechanism for the first time. Only in August, 14 projects were awarded for S/ 376 million.
Meanwhile, the wide application potential of OXi makes it possible to implement Optimization, Marginal Expansion, Rehabilitation and Replacement Investments (IOARR) projects and operation and/or maintenance interventions in practically all subjects carried out by ministries, regional governments, local governments and public universities, Miralles said.
