Lima, December 14, 2024.- In 2024, The Private Investment Promotion Agency – PROINVERSIÓN made significant progress in Peru's accession process to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and also strengthened its position as a regional leader in attracting responsible and sustainable investments.
With this, Peru has proven to be a reliable partner and committed to the values of the OECD and through the agency, as the executing arm of the Government, it has played a crucial role in the accession process that is part of the political and technical will of the State to join an organization that brings together 38 of the most advanced economies in the world.
In the 2024 summary, PROINVERSIÓN has been key in the institutional strengthening necessary to meet the demands of the OECD accession process. In September 2024, the Unit for Responsible Business Conduct (CER) was created within the Directorate of Investor Services (DSI).
This unit, aligned with the recommendations of the OECD, promotes awareness and application of the guidelines for multinational companies, as well as other relevant international instruments to government entities and agencies, the business sector, workers' organizations, non-governmental organizations and civil society in general.
In July 2024, PROINVERSIÓN hosted the mission of the OECD Working Group on Responsible Business Conduct as part of Peru's accession process. This meeting brought together actors from the public, private and civil society sectors, consolidating a participatory and multisectoral approach.
Likewise, in November, the institution successfully presented the Peruvian position in the adhesion evaluation regarding policies on responsible business conduct and the operation of the National Contact Point (NCP).
Another significant advance was the implementation of the first meeting of the NCP advisory groups, made up of representatives of government entities, the private sector and civil society. This action reinforces transparency and constructive dialogue around responsible business conduct in the country.
Next week, the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) and PROINVERSIÓN will lead the sessions within the framework of the OECD mission related to the Investment Committee. This effort reaffirms Peru's commitment to the organization's standards of economic governance and sustainable development.
