PROINVERSIÓN EXPECTS TO AWARD 17 PROJECTS FOR MORE THAN US$ 3 BILLION IN THE SECOND HALF OF 2024
Lima, July 10, 2024.- In the second half of 2024, the Private Investment Promotion Agency (PROINVERSIÓN) plans to award 17 projects, worth more than US$ 3 billion, through the modalities of Public-Private Partnerships and Projects in Assets in strategic sectors such as electricity, sanitation, road, rail, health and industrial development.
During this period, the portfolio includes the Huancayo - Huancavelica Railway project, which requires an estimated investment of US$ 394 million; the Puerto Maldonado Wastewater Treatment Plant (US$ 98 million), Longitudinal de la Sierra Section 4 (US$ 1.18 billion) and three power transmission groups (2, 3, and 4) comprising 12 projects requiring US$ 612 million.
It also includes the Operation and Maintenance project of the Villa el Salvador Hospital (US$ 154 million) and the Ancon Industrial Park for US$ 762 million.
The executive director of PROINVERSIÓN, José Salardi, highlighted the renewed dynamism that project awards through PPP have registered and the confidence of investors in the country.
In this regard, the agency has intensified its efforts to attract investors and ensure the success of upcoming public tenders.
The good performance projected for the second half of the year is in line with the good result of the first half, in which the agency awarded six projects with an investment commitment of US$ 5.07 billion; this is the highest investment amount in the last 10 years and more than doubles the amount recorded in 2023, US$ 2332 million.
With this result, PROINVERSIÓN expects to close the year 2024 with 23 projects awarded through public-private investment, representing a combined investment of US$ 8 billion.
Between January and June 2024, the agency awarded the Peripheral Ring Road mega-project (US$ 3.4 billion), the construction of the New San Juan de Marcona Port Terminal (US$ 405 million), Group 1 of three electricity projects (US$ 329 million) and signed the addendum between the state-owned company Activos Mineros S.A.C. and the company Fosfatos del Pacifico S.A. (FOSPAC) for the production of phosphoric rock that will require an estimated investment of US$ 940 million.
PERIOD 2025 - 2026
For the period 2025 - 2026, the agency has approximately 70 PPP projects and Projects in Assets in its portfolio related to road network conservation, hydrocarbons, telecommunications, sanitation, irrigation, health, among others.
