PROINVERSIÓN WILL PROMOTE THE MODERNIZATION OF 44 SCHOOLS IN LIMA AND CUSCO THROUGH PPP
Lima, July 16, 2024.- The Private Investment Promotion Agency - PROINVERSIÓN is promoting five projects to modernize 44 schools in Metropolitan Lima and Cusco, with an investment of approximately US$ 615 million that will benefit more than 89 thousand students in regular basic education per year.
Of the total, 41 schools correspond to Lima, that is, Co-financed Unsolicited Proposals (CUP) in schools at risk in San Juan de Miraflores and Villa El Salvador that will modernize 13 schools (US$ 255 million), Villa María del Triunfo, five schools (US$ 70 million), Ate and San Juan de Lurigancho, 14 schools (US$ 140 million) and Comas and San Martín de Porres, nine schools (US$ 91 million).
The four projects in Lima will benefit some 84 thousand students, with a combined investment of US$ 556 million, since the concessionaire will be responsible for the construction of a new educational infrastructure (where it currently operates), furniture and equipment for classrooms, educational workshops, administrative and sports areas, among others.
It will also be responsible for the maintenance of the educational infrastructure, equipment and furniture, cleaning services, solid waste management and pest control, school topic service, surveillance and security, among others.
The State (through the Ministry of Education) will continue to be in charge of educational, pedagogical (teaching and curriculum) and administrative management (teaching and administrative staff, provision of teaching materials and planning, organization, direction and control of educational institutions, guaranteeing that education will be completely free of charge).
IN PORTFOLIO
Meanwhile, PROINVERSIÓN also has in its portfolio the Reinforcement of Infrastructure, Equipment and Maintenance of Schools in Cusco, which will benefit three educational institutions in the region and more than 5000 students per year, with an investment of approximately US$ 59 million.
The initiatives in Lima and Cusco would be awarded in 2025 and will contribute to improve infrastructure and complementary educational services, reduce the gap in the education sector and ensure the construction and sustainability of infrastructure and complementary services in non-educational services.
The modernization of schools will also enhance technical education in automotive mechanics, food industry, clothing, leather and footwear, industrial drawing, as well as micro and small business management, among others.
