ENGIE ENERGÍA PERÚ S.A. WAS AWARDED THREE ELECTRICAL PROJECTS THAT WILL BENEFIT ANCASH, JUNÍN AND UC
Lima, December 18, 2024.- In a public act, the company Engie Energía Perú S.A. was awarded three electrical projects included in Group 4 of the 2023 -2032 Transmission Plan, for a total investment amount of US$127 million, which will benefit 700 thousand people in Áncash, Junín and Ucayali.
The Private Investment Promotion Agency – PROINVERSIÓN awarded the projects "220 kV Aguaytía – Pucallpa link, substations, lines and associated extensions (ITC Project)", "Increase in the Reliability 138-60KV of the Tarma – Chanchamayo Electrical System" and "Increase in capacity and reliability (Criterion n-1) of the Huaraz Electrical System Supply (ITC Project)".
The improvement in electrical transmission will benefit families, who will have a more stable and quality service, as well as the key sectors of industry, commerce and services. These investments will contribute to strengthening the local economy, increasing regional competitiveness and significantly improving the quality of life of the inhabitants of Áncash, Junín and Ucayali.
Under the modality of Public-Private Partnership (PPP), these comprehensive projects will seek to strengthen the electricity infrastructure in the three aforementioned regions. The execution will be carried out with a concession period of 30 years of commercial operation, in addition to the time necessary for its construction.
The successful bidder will assume responsibility for the design, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of the works, ensuring their long-term sustainability.
ACCUMULATED
In the public act of the successful bid, the executive director of PROINVERSIÓN, José Salardi, stressed that in the period 2023 – 2024, 21 transmission projects and electrical substations have been awarded for US$2 billion, which represents an important advance for the country's energy development.
Only in 2024, the agency awarded 11 electricity projects corresponding to Group 1, 2 and 4 for US$897 million that will benefit residents of Ica, Arequipa, Lima and Ayacucho, as well as Ancash, Junín and Ucayali.
These initiatives are part of the 2023-2032 Transmission Plan of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) that aims to consolidate a sustainable electricity system in the country. This progress reflects PROINVERSIÓN's commitment to the sustainable development and well-being of thousands of Peruvians, highlighting the importance of strategic alliances between the public and private sectors to achieve national development goals.
