PROINVERSIÓN will award in July the Longitudinal de la Sierra Highway, Section 4 of 965 kilometers
Lima, June 18, 2025.- The Private Investment Promotion Agency (PROINVERSIÓN) announced that in July it will award the contract for the Longitudinal de la Sierra Highway Section 4 megaproject, a 965 kilometers road infrastructure that will directly benefit 1.6 million citizens of Junín, Huancavelica, Ica, Ayacucho and Apurimac, substantially improving their quality of life and access to basic services.
This ambitious project will be executed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) modality, with an estimated total investment of US$ 1,582 million. Its execution will allow the rehabilitation, construction, improvement and maintenance of the road for a period of 25 years, guaranteeing the sustainability and efficiency of the infrastructure.
The project consists of the design, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of 965.2 km of highway. The investment consists of three types of intervention: 5.20 km of construction of the new San Clemente Evitamiento highway; 179.3 km of Rehabilitation and Improvement of the existing Huancayo-Izcuchaca and Izcuchaca-Mayocc subsections; and 780.7 km of initial periodic maintenance of the existing subsections Mayocc-Ayacucho-Andahuaylas-Sahuinto Bridge and Ayacucho-Huaytará-Div.Pisco.
The final version of the concession contract has already been approved by all entities of the National System for the Promotion of Private Investment: PROINVERSIÓN, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, OSITRAN and the Comptroller General of the Republic. This document establishes the final terms of the contract, including obligations, payment mechanisms, guarantees, penalties and dispute resolution clauses.
There are eight qualified bidders in the selection process: Sacyr Concessions S.L, Concesionaria Vial del Centro, Obrascon Huarte Lain S.A, China Communications Construction Company Ltd (Peru Branch), Consorcio Carretera de los Andes, Operadora Surperú S.A and Consorcio R&R.
This mega-project will boost regional economies by reducing travel times and costs, facilitating road interconnectivity, strengthening logistics chains, and promoting trade, tourism and local employment. It will also contribute to reduce traffic accidents and improve the quality of life of the population by bringing them closer to public services in a safe and efficient manner.
With this award, PROINVERSIÓN reaffirms its commitment to equitable development and the promotion of sustainable investments in the country.
