SEVEN WASTEWATER TREATMENT PROJECTS WORTH MORE THAN U$S 1.1 BILLION TO BE AWARDED IN 2025
Lima, October 9, 2024.- In agenda 2025. The Private Investment Promotion Agency - PROINVERSIÓN plans to award seven Wastewater Treatment projects for US$ 1,118 million (excluding VAT), which will benefit residents of Chincha, Cajamarca, Huancayo, San Martin, Puerto Maldonado, Trujillo and Cusco.
The agency scheduled the awarding of the projects for the first half of 2025, through a Co-financed Unsolicited Proposal (IPC), that is, under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) scheme. With this, after seven years, the successful bid for this sanitation project would be reactivated.
The award, in the first semester, would be in a scenario where there are no interested third parties. In this case, for example, after the publication of each declaration of interest, interested third parties have 90 calendar days to submit expressions of interest in the execution of the project. If within the deadline one or more third parties apply, PROINVERSIÓN will proceed to carry out a selection process or otherwise the project will be awarded directly to the proponent.
Just a few days ago, PROINVERSIÓN and the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation (MVCS) declared interest in the Wastewater Treatment Project - Chincha WWTP, which requires a referential investment of US$ 96.5 million (excluding VAT) to benefit the inhabitants of seven districts in this province, located 200 kilometers from Lima.
Also on the agenda is the Wastewater Treatment Plant - Trujillo WWTP, a mega-project of approximately US$ 398 million (excluding VAT) that will benefit the inhabitants of the districts of Trujillo, El Porvenir, La Esperanza, Florencia de Mora, Víctor Larco Herrera, Huanchaco, Moche and Salaverry, as well as the district of Chepén.
The project, which is currently under contract structuring, includes the design, construction, operation and maintenance of primary collectors, pumping stations, drive lines and three wastewater treatment plants: Covicorti, Salaverry and Chepén.
Likewise, the structuring process for the expansion and improvement of the San Jeronimo Wastewater Treatment Plant in Cusco requires US$ 53 million to benefit 746,000 inhabitants. The structuring will be carried out under a Public-Private Partnership and includes the improvement and expansion of the conduction capacity of 3 kilometers of the General collector and another 13 kilometers of the Huatanay collector to transfer the wastewater to the San Jeronimo WWTP. It also includes upgrading and increasing the treatment capacity from 580 liters to 938 liters per second.
Meanwhile, in the case of the Puerto Maldonado Wastewater Treatment Plant (Puerto Maldonado WWTP), as a state initiative, the award includes the construction, rehabilitation, expansion, operation and maintenance of the wastewater collection, treatment and final disposal systems that will benefit some 120,000 inhabitants in this region of Madre de Dios. The estimated investment is US$ 98 million, the concession term is for 23 years in PPP co-financed by the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation (MVCS).
The agency also has in its portfolio the Cajamarca (US$ 70 million), Huancayo (US$ 267 million) and San Martin (US$ 135 million) WWTPs, which will also contribute to closing the drinking water and sewerage gaps and will provide an efficient and sustainable wastewater treatment and disposal service that will have an impact on the health and quality of life of the population.
