MTC COMMISSIONS PROINVERSIÓN 20 ROAD AND TWO PORT PROJECTS FOR MORE THAN US$ 3.5 BILLION
Lima, March 12, 2024.- The Private Investment Promotion Agency (PROINVERSIÓN) was commissioned by the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) for 20 road projects and two (2) port projects to be structured and promoted through Public-Private Partnerships (PPP).
The 22 projects assigned to PROINVERSIÓN were prioritized in the Multiannual Report on Investments in Public-Private Partnerships (IMIAPP) 2024 - 2026 of the MTC. In total, it will require more than US$ 3.5 billion (total investment cost/ total project cost) to benefit from more efficient connectivity to Áncash, Arequipa, Callao, Cusco, Huancavelica, Huánuco, Ica, Junín, Loreto, Moquegua, Pasco, Piura, Puno, San Martín and Ucayali.
The 20 road projects are related to the conservation of road corridors. The objective is to strengthen the connection between regions and link national and international markets, promoting road integration as a means to reactivate the local economy and benefit users and the population of the sphere of influence with sustainable levels of service that ensure traffic 365 days a year, reducing travel times and logistics costs.
Meanwhile, the two (2) port projects will improve inhabitants' connectivity through the New Pucallpa Port Terminal and the New Loreto Port Terminals (Saramiriza and Iquitos).
“This commission demonstrates trust in the agency and its technical capacity, as well as in the PPP modality. We will work with the MTC and other actors in the PPP system to structure and award these projects at optimized times and with a great sense of urgency,” said the executive director of PROINVERSIÓN, José Salardi.
The PPP mechanism guarantees the sustainability of projects and ensures their operation and maintenance with high quality standards, for the benefit of people and economic development.
