WORKS FOR TAXES EXCEEDED S/ 4 BILLION THROUGH 124 AWARDS IN 2024
December 20, 2024.- As of December 20, the Works for Taxes (OxI) mechanism generated investments of S/ 4004 million through 124 awards that have reduced the gap in education, health, transport, sanitation and citizen security, reported The Private Investment Promotion Agency – PROINVERSIÓN.
The result of 2024 is quite important because it is more or less equivalent to what was accumulated in the last seven years through Works for Taxes, which demonstrates the momentum that has been taken by this tool that is already used in 23 regions of Peru, said the executive director of PROINVERSIÓN, José Salardi.
He explained that the S/ 4 billion is an unprecedented result in the history of the OxI mechanism and the task going forward will be to maintain this level through intense work with authorities and the public sector to land projects with great social impact.
In recent days, the agency awarded six important projects to be developed through OxI in Arequipa, ICA, La Libertad, Loreto and Ucayali, which will represent a joint investment of S/ 343 million.
In this regard, the director of Decentralized Investments, Denisse Miralles, explained that this package includes the first species conservation project, through Works for Taxes, carried out by the Regional Government of Loreto.
She added that it is about the creation of the support service for the sustainable use of biodiversity in four production units of Maynas and Mariscal Ramón Castilla. To this end, the company Escorpión Contratistas Generales S.A.C. will invest S/ 40.4 million to increase the population of the Taricaya (river turtle) in four Regional Conservation Areas (RCAs), which will benefit 5200 inhabitants of the districts of Alto Nanay, Ramón Castilla, Pebas, Tigre, Napo, Mazan, Las Amazonas, and Fernando Lores.
In Ica, the Regional Government awarded the project that will promote the creation of the drinking water and sewerage system for the benefit of 18 thousand inhabitants in the human settlements of the upper area of Pueblo Nuevo and Chincha Alta.
The investment amounts to S/ 75.3 million and seeks to provide basic drinking water and sewerage services to more families. The intervention includes the construction of a water catchment, pumping station, conduction lines, reservoirs, primary and secondary networks, and household drinking water connections. In the sewerage system, primary collectors, secondary networks and home connections will be made.
Also in Ica, the construction of roads and sidewalks (adequate traffic conditions) will be made possible in the Caserío San Martin and in the Tepro Alto and Tepro Ecológico human settlements, among others, benefiting more than 11,000 inhabitants with an investment of S/ 23.5 million.
Further south of the country, in Arequipa, the Regional Government awarded the "Construction of the regional road Arequipa – La Joya, component 2", which includes the construction of the Twin Tunnel and its complementary facilities.
This project represents an investment of S/ 104.7 million and will benefit more than 1.2 million people, improving connectivity and regional competitiveness.
Meanwhile, in La Libertad, IESTP Ciro Alegría Bazán (Chepén) students will have access to adequate technological higher education services through Works for Taxes. This project will benefit about 900 inhabitants with an investment of S/ 85.6 in the improvement of infrastructure and mobile service.
Finally, with an investment of S/ 13.7 million, the improvement and expansion of the citizen security service in the Raimondi district, Atalaya Province in Ucayali will be provided. This project will have a positive impact on more than 51,000 inhabitants.
