PROINVERSIÓN PROMOTES INVESTMENTS FOR MORE THAN US$ 3.5 BILLION IN METROPOLITAN LIMA
Lima, January 18, 2025.- Today the city of Metropolitan Lima celebrates 490 years of foundation. Due to its strategic geographic location, favorable climate, and rich resources, it is positioned as one of the main capitals of Latin America. According to the portfolio of Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects promoted by the Private Investment Promotion Agency - PROINVERSIÓN, it also has attractive investment opportunities worth more than US$ 3.5 billion.
These investment opportunities are concentrated in 13 projects in Water and Sanitation, Education, Health, and Real Estate, among others, including the Ancon Industrial Park (US$ 997 million), Headworks (US$ 472 million), School at Risk in Lima (US$ 585 million), Lima Convention Center (US$ 354 million), Operation and Maintenance of the Villa El Salvador Emergency Hospital (US$ 288 million), Operation and Maintenance of the Hipólito Unanue Hospital (US$ 250 million), New Central Military Hospital (US$ 224 million), Management of the National Institute of Child Health of San Borja (US$ 125 million), among others.
The agency also identified a portfolio of 34 initiatives to be developed through the Projects in Assets modality for S/ 850 million in Metropolitan Lima, corresponding to real estate in municipalities such as Ancon, Surquillo and San Bartolo, as well as the National Superintendency of Public Registries - SUNARP, National University of San Marcos (UNMSM) and the National University of Engineering (UNI).
On the available land, it will be possible to build businesses in the areas of commerce, tourism, gastronomy, education and housing, among others, or to land ideas such as a Fishing Terminal and Cold Chain of the Great Wholesale Market, subway parking lots on the edges of the Historic Center of Lima and Public Bicycle Systems.
WORKS FOR TAXES
In parallel, after the successful application of Works for Taxes (OxI) in Metropolitan Lima with two projects for S/ 41.8 million (installation of the Manuel Scorza preschool education service in Pucusana and the High-Performance Surf Center in Punta Rocas), PROINVERSIÓN is now promoting five projects through this modality that require an investment of almost S/ 450 million.
These are projects related to Sanitation, the Securities Market and Defense. Initiatives such as the improvement of drinking water and sewerage services in the districts of Pachacamac, Puente Piedra and sectors of Lurigancho stand out.
This portfolio also includes the creation of the Higher Public Technological Institute of the Armed Forces and the improvement of the services of Promotion, Supervision and Regulation of the Securities Market (SMV).
In addition, the largest Works for Taxes project in Metropolitan Lima is in the preliminary stages: Improvement and Expansion of the Drinking Water and Sewage Systems in the district of Pucusana, which requires S/ 292 million to improve the living conditions of approximately 18,000 residents in that district.
These and other initiatives of high social impact ratify Works for Taxes as a mechanism with great potential that is gaining ground as a substitute for traditional public works at the national level.
