CAJAMARCA HAS A POTENTIAL OF S/ 1.45 BILLION TO EXECUTE WORKS FOR TAXES
Lima, June 18, 2024.- According to the Private Investment Promotion Agency (PROINVERSIÓN), the department of Cajamarca has S/ 1 451.6 billion to execute Works for Taxes (OxI), of which the Regional Government has S/ 792.5 million; Local Governments S/ 609.6 million and public universities S/ 49.4 million.
The amount corresponds to the maximum annual capacity limits of public entities for the issuance of Regional and Local Public Investment Certificates - Public Treasury (CIPRL) that allow projects and investments to be executed through Works for Taxes (OxI) and includes resources distributed by fee, excess fee, royalties, customs revenues and participations; ordinary resources from budgetary expenditure and the Regional Compensation Fund (FONCOR).
It should be noted that Cajamarca has a portfolio of 12 projects identified in Works for Taxes for S/ 228 million in education, social protection, sanitation, transport and social housing. To date, in the region, 32 OxI projects have been executed for S/ 192 million thanks to the free technical assistance of PROINVERSIÓN.
This potential was announced during the working meeting held by the executive director of PROINVERSIÓN, José Salardi, and his technical team, with the regional governor of Cajamarca, Roger Guevara, to review the progress of the sanitation PPP projects promoted by the agency in favor of the region.
Governor Guevara was also interested in promoting health, education and irrigation projects through Works for Taxes, considering the OxI potential of more than S/ 1.45 billion throughout the department of Cajamarca.
In turn, José Salardi stressed that the agency has been working for the benefit of the Cajamarca region on four PPP initiatives that require a benchmark investment of US$ 449 million in sanitation and health; as well as three Projects in Assets for US$ 46.5 million in trade, energy and production.
In 22 years of management, PROINVERSIÓN has contributed to closing gaps in Cajamarca with the granting of 11 PPP initiatives for US$ 911 million in key sectors such as transport, energy and justice; in addition to five (5) Projects in Assets awarded for US$3 649 billion in mining and telecommunications.
In addition, in the technical visit, the promotion workshop in Works for Taxes, Public-Private Partnerships and Projects in Assets was held, organized by PROINVERSIÓN for authorities and officials of the local governments of Cajamarca. Likewise, the Regional Archive of Cajamarca was visited, which was modernized through Works for Taxes with an investment of 9,479,000 soles.
