PROINVERSIÓN PROMOTES THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE CAJAMARCA WWTP PROJECT WITH AN INVESTMENT OF US$ 58 MIL
Cajamarca, March 3, 2023.- The executive director of PROINVERSIÓN, Jose Salardi, made a technical visit to several public-private investment projects in Cajamarca and met with authorities and representatives of the business association of this city. In these activities, he announced that the entity has been promoting the development of the Cajamarca Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) project, with the support of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
"This sanitation project, which requires an investment of US$ 58 million, will have a positive impact on the health and quality of life of the population, as well as on education, economy and environment," said José Salardi. The project will be executed through Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) and includes the design, financing, construction, rehabilitation, operation and maintenance of the main collectors, pumping stations, drive lines, outfalls, treatment and final disposal of wastewater. This will reduce contamination of the Mashcón River and the incidence of acute diarrheal diseases and parasitosis.
"The PPP modality will allow the sustainability of the initiative with high quality standards, during the 25 years of the concession (three years of design and construction, and 22 years of operation and maintenance)," added the executive director of the Agency.
Another project in Cajamarca promoted by PROINVERSIÓN and announced by its head is the High-Performance School (COAR) Cajamarca, a work of more than S/ 79 million that will be executed through the modality of Works for Taxes. "This project is a clear commitment to the future of Cajamarca, and is aligned with the State's strategy of providing quality basic education that contributes to the development of human talent and regional competitiveness," said the head of PROINVERSIÓN. COAR of Cajamarca is located in the Chuco Populated Center, district of Jesús, and is currently operating in a temporary building.
In the meeting with representatives of the Cajamarca Chamber of Commerce, in which participated its president, Marco Aurelio La Torre, as well as the mayor of Cajamarca, Joaquín Ramírez, and the vice-governor of the Regional Government, Magda Farro, the executive director of PROINVERSIÓN, highlighted the entity's commitment to promote public-private investments in Cajamarca and the country.
"Only by promoting private and public-private investment will we contribute to closing infrastructure and public services gaps, to the benefit of all Peruvians," he said, and highlighted that for the period 2023 - 2024 the Agency's goal is to promote and award 38 PPP projects and Projects in Assets for approximately US$ 9,000 million, of which for this year it expects to award up to 16 projects for US$ 3,000 million.
PROINVERSIÓN's technical team was composed, in addition to the head of PROINVERSIÓN, by the Director of Project Portfolio, Emerson Castro, and the Director of Decentralized Investments, Denisse Miralles. They visited the COAR of Cajamarca and Cajamarca WWTP projects to verify their status and components.
They also visited the facilities of the Cajamarca Video Surveillance Center, a successful event of Works for Taxes that has improved citizen security and reduced crime thanks to its technological platform that required an investment of S/ 19 million. It has been operational since 2020 and has a technological platform consisting of 111 cameras covering 40% of the geographical area of the city and at strategic points.
Precisely, due to the success of this service, the possibility of expanding it to have greater coverage is being evaluated, which would be proposed through an unsolicited proposal by means of the Works for Taxes modality.
The ProInversión team's agenda of activities in the department of Cajamarca concluded at the Jesús district food market. A profile study is currently underway to develop a new market through the Works for Taxes modality, with an approximate investment of S/ 6 million.
