PROINVERSIÓN: MINDEF PLANS TO EXECUTE 12 PROJECTS FOR MORE THAN S/ 780 MILLION THROUGH OXI
Lima, December 5, 2023.- The Private Investment Promotion Agency (PROINVERSIÓN) informs that the Ministry of Defense (MINDEF) has a portfolio of 12 projects, for approximately S/ 780 million, to be executed through the Works for Taxes mechanism.
Of the 12 projects being promoted, four (4) correspond to the Peruvian Navy, for S/ 118 million. Three (3) to the Air Force, for S/ 145 million; four (4) to the Peruvian Army, for S/ 343 million; and one to the Ministry of Defense (General Office of Administration), for S/ 175 million.
Precisely, to promote and attract the interest of project financing and executing companies, PROINVERSIÓN and MINDEF organized the event called Presentation of the Ministry of Defense Project Portfolio, in which the sector presented, before executives of interested companies, the characteristics and social benefits of the aforementioned projects.
Of the 12 MINDEF projects, four (4) have been prioritized and, therefore, have the budgetary capacity managed before the General Directorate of Public Budget of the Ministry of Economy and Finance. These are the following projects:
- Improvement and expansion of the postgraduate education services of the Peruvian Naval War College in the district of La Punta (S/ 10.5 million).
- Recovery of the basic flight instruction service in fixed-wing aircraft of the FAP - Air Group No. 51, at Capitán FAP Renán Elías Olivera Airport, Pisco (Ica) (S/ 58.5 million).
- Improvement of the basic health care service of the military health center, district of Rímac (S/ 17.1 million).
- Creation and implementation of the Public Technological Higher Education Institute of the Armed Forces in the district of Rímac (S/ 175.3 million).
The remaining eight (8) projects have not yet been prioritized, but are being promoted to attract the interest of the private sector so that with the expression of interest the budget can be secured and prioritized.
"These projects will allow MINDEF to develop quality infrastructure and services for the benefit of the Peruvian State. From PROINVERSIÓN we offer the Ministry all our support and expertise so that these projects become a reality", commented PROINVERSIÓN's executive director, Jose Salardi.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Defense, Jorge Chavez, pointed out that his sector needs to join the use of the Works for Taxes mechanism to improve the infrastructure and operational capacity of the Armed Forces, and thus comply with their constitutional mandate to defend the nation. "Twelve strategic investments have been identified to be executed through the Works for Taxes mechanism in the departments of Piura, Loreto, Ica, Lima and the Constitutional Province of Callao. The execution of these 12 projects will allow us to close the gaps we have in the development of infrastructure projects for the fulfillment of its institutional mission," he added.
