10 MTC PROJECTS PER S/ 2,000 MILLIONS ARE READY TO BE FINANCED BY COMPANIES THROUGH OXI
Lima, July 7, 2023.- PROINVERSIÓN reports that the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) has a portfolio of ten (7) projects, for more than S/ 2023 million, which are ready and in search of private companies to be financed through the mechanism Works for Taxes (OxI). These ten initiatives correspond to road and telecommunications projects whose implementation will improve road access and optimize the digital divide in various areas of the country.
The projects were presented at an event organized by PROINVERSIÓN called "Works for Taxes: Project Portfolio of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.”
The Deputy Minister of Communications of the MTC, Patricia Carreño, highlighted the work that PROINVERSIÓN has been carrying out, pointing out that the meetings it organizes allow it to get closer to the private sector and share the initiatives promoted by the MTC, as well as the expectations it has for carrying out large-scale projects that will benefit thousands of Peruvians. "We have presented ten projects, five of which are transport projects in various regions of Peru, and five are communications projects that will help close the gaps in telecommunications services and allow thousands of Peruvians in rural areas to have a good internet and intranet service. It is important to emphasize that this is the first time that communications will implement projects through Works for Taxes," said Patricia Carreño.
The five Transport projects, for approximately S/ 352 million in search of interested private companies to be executed through Works for Taxes, are:
Ilo Bypass Project (Provias Nacional) which consists of the construction of a track of 24.24 km, with an investment of S/ 158 million.
Tacna- La Paz Road Integration Project, section 2 Cerro Santa Lena- Tripartito Detour (Provias Nacional); this project will require an investment of S/ 99 million and foresees the improvement of a 50.26 km road.
Construction of the Totorillas (Ayacucho), Mayocc (Huancavelica), Chanchara and Chillico bridges (Provias Nacional), for an approximate amount of S/ 65 million.
Challa Bridge and access in the town of Challa Challa, district of Challhuahuacho (Apurímac), with an amount of more than S/ 20 million (Provias decentralized);
The Chicñahui bridge and access project in the town of Kuchuhuacho, district of Challhuahuacho (Apurímac), will require an investment of more than S/ 10 million (Decentralized Provias).
Meanwhile, in the Communications portfolio, PRONATEL presented the following five (5) projects for S/ 1,760 million:
In Cajamarca, the installation of broadband for connectivity and social development, through the deployment of 1,285 km of fiber optics and the implementation of 1,214 nodes in various districts of the Cajamarca region, benefiting 378,000 inhabitants of 1,181 localities and 2,106 public institutions, including 1,472 schools, 558 health posts and 133 police stations (S/ 829 million).
In Piura, the installation of broadband for comprehensive connectivity and social development, with 245 km of fiber optics and the implementation of 541 nodes, benefiting 273,000 inhabitants of 528 localities and 785 public institutions, including 39 schools, 219 health posts and 27 police stations (S/ 362 million).
In Tumbes, the installation of broadband for comprehensive connectivity and social development, through 303 km of fiber optics and the implementation of 55 nodes, benefiting 30,000 inhabitants of 54 localities and 81 public institutions, among them: 52 schools, 24 health posts and 5 police stations (S/ 71 million).
The creation of a communications network for comprehensive connectivity and social development in various areas of the Loreto region: localities of the Napo-Putumayo river basins; Huallaga, Marañón and Amazon river basins, Yurimaguas- Iquitos section, with a deployment of 11 km of fiber optics, implementation of 26 nodes and six (6) Digital Access Centers. This project will benefit 45,000 inhabitants of 271 locations, including 278 schools, 37 health posts and 11 police stations (S/ 414 million).
In the district of Manseriche (Loreto), province of Datem del Marañón, 103 km of fiber optics would be deployed, 45 nodes implemented and a Digital Access Center would benefit 9,000 inhabitants of 43 locations, including 52 schools and 14 health posts (S/ 85 million).
The director of PROINVERSIÓN’s Decentralized Investment Directorate, Denisse Miralles, highlighted the Ministry of Transport and Communications' commitment to the Works for Taxes mechanism as it will allow projects to be executed in less time. “In PROINVERSIÓN we have been providing advice and technical support to the MTC in all phases of the mechanism and will articulate the participation of private companies in these projects,” she added.
