Works for rising taxes: between January and July, 147 projects were awarded for S/ 1,725 million
Lima, August 11, 2025. During the recent month of July, the award of projects of public entities through the mechanism of Works for Taxes amounted to S/ 373 million, according to figures from the Private Investment Promotion Agency – PROINVERSIÓN. This made it possible to reach a total amount of 147 projects, for S/ 1,725 million, in the period January – July 2025.
To achieve these figures, the confidence achieved by regional and local entities in the Tax Works modality has been important, who, thanks to the monitoring and advisory training work developed by the PROINVERSIÓN technical team, are perceiving the benefits of using the mechanism. Likewise, there is a growth and participation of the private sector in the use of Works for Taxes.
Works for Taxes (OxI) drives the closing of gaps in sectors such as Education, Transportation, Health, and Sanitation, which from 2009 to date account for 75% of the awarded investment. However, in this year (2025), projects in the Health (23%) and Public Order and Security (20%) sectors stand out.
Since its implementation in 2009, until July 31, 2025, a total of 583 public and private entities have participated: 299 are public entities, while 284 are the private companies that finance the various projects.
According to the figures recorded this year, the Regional Government of La Libertad ranks first with S/ 238 million, followed by GORE Puno with S/ 237 million. In third place is GORE Tacna for S/ 123 million, while the regions of Cajamarca (S/ 114 million) and Cusco (S/ 87 million) round out the top five.
For this year, public entities aim to exceed S/ 4000 million in Works for Taxes (OxI) awards, for which they have a wide and varied portfolio of projects in various regions, highlighting the transport, sanitation, health and education sectors, which will contribute to improving the quality of life in the population.
