PROINVERSIÓN signs a PPP agreement to improve healthcare services in three hospitals in Loreto
Cusco, July 4, 2025.- As part of PROINVERSIÓN’s decentralized project portfolio, three hospital projects are being promoted to benefit more than 1 million residents of Loreto, whose main demand is timely access to quality healthcare services. For this reason, an important agreement was signed with the Regional Government of Loreto to carry out, through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP), the operation and maintenance of the “Santa Gema Hospital,” “César Garayar García Hospital,” and the “Felipe Santiago Arriola Iglesias Regional Hospital.”
This agreement signed between PROINVERSIÓN and the Regional Government of Loreto will ensure the sustainability of infrastructure investments in the three hospitals currently being developed by the regional government with its own resources, amounting to approximately S/ 1.8 billion. The agreement also includes the incorporation of the operation and maintenance over a 15-year period, including the replacement of medical equipment and new furnishings. The agency will carry out the technical, socio-environmental, legal, and economic-financial studies. In addition, it will oversee the international public tender to select the operator responsible for providing the “gray coat” services.
The event was attended by the Regional Governor of Loreto, René Chávez Silvano; the Director of the Directorate of Decentralized Investments at PROINVERSIÓN, Denisse Miralles; the Director of the Special Projects Directorate, Mario Hernández; and the Director of Health Projects, María Elena Fernández.
These three projects will mobilize an estimated investment of over S/ 4 billion and will ensure the long-term sustainability of healthcare services, guaranteeing timely medical care, addressing historical service gaps, and contributing to the development of a fairer and more efficient healthcare system in the Peruvian Amazon.
The general support services, also known as “gray coat” services, encompass not only laundry, food, and security, but also the maintenance of infrastructure and medical equipment, including the replacement according to their useful life, among other services. These must be available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to ensure that healthcare personnel can continuously provide the quality hospital services that the people of Loreto deserve.
Works for Taxes (OxI) strengthens eight fire companies
From Loreto, PROINVERSIÓN also took part in the signing of an agreement between the Regional Government of Loreto and a private company, which will enable the acquisition of 8 fire trucks, 8 pickup trucks, 8 rural ambulances, personal protective equipment, vehicle rescue kits, among other items.
This initiative will be carried out through the Works for Taxes mechanism, with an investment of S/ 43.9 million. Its objective is to provide essential equipment to the fire companies of Loreto to improve the capacity to respond to structural fires, vehicle rescues, and medical emergencies in both urban and rural areas—safeguarding the lives of residents in the communities of Belén, Contamana, Requena, San Antonio, Nauta, Caballococha, Yurimaguas, and Punchana.
Thus, through each of its execution modalities, PROINVERSIÓN works in a decentralized manner and in coordination with regional and local governments, all with the same goal: to build a modern country for all.
