WORKS FOR TAXES: MINEDU AWARDS EDUCATION PROJECTS IN APURIMAC FOR S/ 30.6 MILLION

Lima - May 8, 2023.- The Private Investment Promotion Agency (PROINVERSIÓN) informed that the Ministry of Education (MINEDU) awarded the company Minera Las Bambas S.A. the project "Improvement and Expansion of the Educational Service of the Kindergarten School No. 759, Primary Educational Institution No. 50833 Antonio Cano Cáceres and Secondary School of Pumamarca in the District of Tambobamba - Province of Cotabambas - Department of Apurímac", to be executed through the Works for Taxes mechanism.

The amount awarded for the execution of the three educational institutions amounts to S/ 30.6 million. The project aims to provide adequate educational services at IEI No. 759, IEP No. 50833 and Pumamarca IES, in the department of Apurímac. The following actions are contemplated for this purpose:

Reinforcement and refurbishment of primary school classrooms

Construction of educational classrooms, complementary and administrative environments for kindergarten, primary and secondary schools.
Acquisition of equipment, furniture and educational material for kindergarten, primary and secondary schools.    
Thus, three (3) classrooms will be implemented at the kindergarten level, 12 classrooms at the primary level and 10 classrooms at the secondary level, which will directly benefit 4,756 students, in 10 years.

This is the first Works for Taxes award of the year. PROINVERSIÓN provided advice and technical support to the Ministry of Education (MINEDU) in all phases of the Works for Taxes mechanism, from the prioritization of projects to the awarding of the successful bid. PROINVERSIÓN also promoted and articulated the participation of private enterprise in the execution of the project. The selection and awarding process was carried out by the project's own entity (MINEDU).
