THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS HIGHLIGHTS THE COMPREHENSIVE ALLIANCE BETWEEN PERU AND CHINA
Lima, April 01, 2023.- On the tenth anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic alliance between Peru and China, the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted aspects of it. Thus, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recalled that the Asian country is Peru's first trade partner since 2014. The date marks the 10th anniversary of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Peru and China.
Last year, the trade balance amounted to US$ 36500 million, corresponding to US$ 5000 million for the country. This situation stems from the signing of a free trade agreement between the two countries in 2010. China ranks eighth in terms of foreign investment in Peru, with US$ 1100 million, according to figures from Proinversión. The areas in which this investment is most visible are communications (US$ 942.4 million), mining (US$ 157.8 million) and construction (US$ 7.2 million).
Emergency and donation. The Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also highlighted that within the framework of the bilateral interaction between Peru and China, the latter has cooperated with 18.7 million dollars in the construction of the National Emergency Operations Center. Also noteworthy are the donations made by China to the country since the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic, which amounted to approximately seven million dollars.
