PROINVERSIÓN Launches Tender to Supervise Execution of the Puerto Maldonado Wastewater Treatment Plant

The project will treat 100% of the city’s wastewater and benefit more than 190,000 people through improved health and sanitation conditions.

Lima, April 27, 2026.- The Private Investment Promotion Agency – PROINVERSIÓN launched the tender process to contract specialized supervision services for the Puerto Maldonado Wastewater Treatment Plant project, a key stage to ensure that the design and construction of this important infrastructure are carried out with quality, within the established timelines, and in accordance with the required technical standards.

The Puerto Maldonado Wastewater Treatment Plant, awarded in December 2025 under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) modality, will enable the treatment of 100% of the city’s wastewater, directly benefiting more than 190,000 people and contributing to the decontamination of the Tambopata River and Madre de Dios River, as well as reducing waterborne diseases.

The project includes the design, financing, construction, rehabilitation, expansion, operation, and maintenance of the entire wastewater collection, treatment, and final disposal infrastructure.

The hiring of a specialized supervisor is essential because it will ensure that each stage of the project is properly executed, from civil works to operational testing. In addition, the supervisor will verify that the concessionaire complies with all contractual obligations, identify any potential non-compliance, and provide technical support to PROINVERSIÓN throughout the construction process.

This service will also ensure that the infrastructure begins operations under optimal conditions by validating service levels prior to commissioning. Likewise, it will strengthen technical coordination between PROINVERSIÓN and the concessionaire, consolidating the Agency’s new active role in the execution and monitoring of strategic projects.

With this new step, PROINVERSIÓN reaffirms its commitment to closing sanitation infrastructure gaps and promoting projects that directly improve health, quality of life, and environmental conditions for thousands of families in Madre de Dios.
