Lima, July 22, 2026 – The Private Investment Promotion Agency – PROINVERSIÓN together with the Regional Government of Lambayeque, presented the start of the promotion process for the new concession of the Olmos Project water transfer works, which will be promoted under the modality of Co-financed Private Initiative (CPI) with the objective of ensuring the continuity, sustainability and full capacity of the trans-Andean water transfer system for the next 50 years. The new concession includes studies, execution of works, as well as the long-term operation and maintenance of this strategic infrastructure for the water security of 25,000 new hectares and 5,500 hectares of the old Olmos valley.
“This is one of the most important projects that PROINVERSIÓN has led because of its capacity to transform an entire region. We are structuring a solid project, with a long-term vision, that will provide security to investors and permanent benefits for the population,” highlighted the executive president of PROINVERSIÓN, Luis Del Carpio.
The new concession involves an estimated investment of US$ 400 million and includes the preparation of pre-investment studies, raising the Limón Dam from 43 to 85 meters, works to reduce sediment inflow, river channeling and bank protection works, the adaptation of the inclined tunnel for its connection to the Trans-Andean Tunnel, the relocation of approximately eight kilometers of the Norperuvian Oil Pipeline, and the comprehensive operation and maintenance of the water transfer infrastructure at full capacity.
The presentation was attended by the Regional Governor of Lambayeque, Jorge Luis Pérez; the General Manager of the Olmos Tinajones Special Project (PEOT), Luis Piedra; the PEOT Concession Contracts Supervision Manager, Juan Saavedra; the Director of PROINVERSIÓN’s Investor Services Directorate (DSI), Edgar Patiño; and PROINVERSIÓN Project Director Luis Pita. Also in attendance were representatives of 45 domestic and international companies interested in participating in the upcoming concession process, who were briefed on the current status of the project, its implementation schedule, and the initiative’s main technical features.
With this new concession, PROINVERSIÓN seeks to complete the infrastructure planned for the first stage of the Olmos Project, ensuring the continuity of a strategic infrastructure that will strengthen water security, promote new investments and consolidate the agro-export and economic growth of Lambayeque.
