Juliaca, September 10, 2026.- Today, the Central Government took a decisive step toward transforming the educational infrastructure of Metropolitan Lima with the award of a project that will enable the comprehensive reconstruction of 13 educational institutions in Villa El Salvador and San Juan de Miraflores, benefiting more than 29,000 children and adolescents.
The project, promoted and awarded by PROINVERSIÓN under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) modality, includes the construction of 679 new classrooms, as well as libraries, science and technology laboratories, innovation classrooms, creative workshops, sports facilities, and modern, safe spaces that will improve learning conditions for thousands of students.
“Today, we have seen the children’s happiness as they learn that they will have modern and safe schools. At PROINVERSIÓN, we have worked to turn that dream into reality, with the support of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the World Bank, which is also joining this project. A PPP is not just about building infrastructure; our commitment is to ensure that schools operate and have all the necessary services throughout the years of the concession. We want every student to have the infrastructure they need and for it to be properly maintained and kept in good condition, so that it is always fully operational,” said Luis Del Carpio, Executive President of PROINVERSIÓN, during his participation in the event.
The event was also attended by Rosangella Barbarán, Member of Parliament, district authorities, principals of the beneficiary schools, students, and parents. Ivanna Fernandes Duarte, IFC Manager for the World Bank in Peru, also participated, whose presence reaffirms the commitment to support the development of the project together with PROINVERSIÓN.
The concession includes the design, financing, construction and maintenance of the infrastructure for 20 years, as well as the provision of furniture and equipment and their replacement when appropriate. It will also include complementary services such as cleaning, solid waste management, pest control, security and surveillance, and a school health clinic. It will also have a Temporary Relocation Plan to ensure the continuity of classes while the works are being carried out.
EDUCATION WITH MORE OPPORTUNITIES
One of the main components of the project will be the strengthening of technical training through Education for Work workshops. Students will have access to specialized spaces for robotics, electronics, computer science and IT, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, the garment industry, carpentry, personal aesthetics, and micro- and small business management, among other fields.
Education will remain free of charge and will continue to be the responsibility of the State and the education sector. With this award, the Central Government, with PROINVERSIÓN as the project’s facilitator and promoter, is turning a long-standing infrastructure need into a long-term solution for thousands of families.
