PROINVERSIÓN reaches record figure in Works for Taxes with more than S/ 3 billion awarded in 2026

The historic record achieved by the Works for Taxes mechanism during the first four months of the year has been driven by the confidence of both the public and private sectors through the coordination and outreach efforts of PROINVERSIÓN.

Lima, May 13, 2026 – The Private Investment Promotion Agency (PROINVERSIÓN), attached to the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), reports that the Works for Taxes (OxI) mechanism has reached a historic record of S/ 3276 million in 196 awards between January and April 2026. This amount reflects significant growth compared to the S/ 523 million awarded during the same period in 2025, representing an increase of 6.3 times over the corresponding period of the previous year.

In April alone, 72 projects were awarded for a total of S/ 1,145 million, benefiting thousands of Peruvians.

So far in 2026, 131 public entities and 166 private companies have participated in the Works for Taxes mechanism, highlighting the incorporation of 59 new public entities and 79 new companies. Regional governments accounted for 48% of the awarded amount, consolidating the impact of the mechanism on the decentralized development of the country.

The record achieved by Works for Taxes in 2026 reflects the confidence and decision of public entities to use the Works for Taxes mechanism to execute investments in less time and term. This is also motivated by the success stories in different parts of the country, which have allowed for a virtuous cycle where more and more public entities are carrying out their investments under this modality. In addition, PROINVERSIÓN has been actively promoting the mechanism in all regions of the country.

The significant progress, in 2026, is also due to the growing interest from the private sector in using this tool and contributing to closing infrastructure gaps. As evidence of the foregoing, during the first four months of 2026, 79 new companies joined the mechanism, mobilizing more than S/ 1,001 million. Since the implementation of the mechanism in 2009, 466 companies have participated in the Works for Taxes mechanism.

Another factor that contributed to the resurgence in the use of the Works for Taxes mechanism is the shift toward the OxI 360 approach, formalized through the amendment to the Works for Taxes Law in October 2025, which has helped generate greater confidence among the private sector through the expanded role of PROINVERSIÓN: providing technical support throughout the entire project cycle, from project identification to the completion of the project or investment.

SOCIAL IMPACT PROJECTS

Among the projects awarded between January and April, notable highlights include the construction of the High-Performance School – COAR Arequipa, with an investment of S/ 107 million, which will benefit 300 students in the region. Also noteworthy are the new headquarters of the Superintendency of the Securities Market, with an investment of S/ 101 million; and the Protection System on the Tucsamayo River, with an investment of S/ 65 million, which will protect more than 1,000 families in the areas surrounding the city of Espinar.

In the coming months, major projects will be awarded, including the construction of Regional Road Joya Section III in Arequipa, with an estimated investment of S/ 372 million, and the improvement of the Civil Engineering School at the Santiago Antúnez de Mayolo National University in Áncash, with an investment amounting to S/ 57 million.
