PROINVERSIÓN Promotes a US$ 2.9 Billion Natural Gas Project Portfolio for 2026-2027

The portfolio includes the Cálidda amendment, with an investment of US$ 643 million and an expected award in the second quarter of 2026.

Lima, April 13, 2026.- The Private Investment Promotion Agency, PROINVERSIÓN, is promoting a portfolio of three natural gas projects for the 2026-2027 period, involving investments of up to US$ 2.9 billion under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) scheme, with the objective of expanding service coverage and strengthening energy security across 11 regions of the country.

In this context, the state initiative for the massification of natural gas in Arequipa, Moquegua, and Tacna stands out, with an estimated investment of US$ 266 million. The project is expected to be tendered in the third quarter of 2026 and awarded in the first quarter of 2027. This initiative includes the supply of natural gas (NG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG), land transportation, as well as the implementation of regasification stations and distribution networks reaching end users. It is estimated to generate more than 3,100 jobs during the construction phase and 180 jobs in operation and maintenance.

Meanwhile, the Cálidda amendment involves an investment of US$ 643 million and is expected to be awarded in the second quarter of 2026. This initiative will expand access to natural gas to more than 150,000 households in seven regions: Huancayo, Ayacucho, Cusco, Huancavelica, Junín, Puno, and Ucayali. Major works include the installation of 2,510 kilometers of distribution networks, as well as the construction of two city gates and nine satellite regasification plants.

Likewise, the TGP amendment contemplates an estimated investment of US$ 2 billion, with its award scheduled for the last quarter of this year. This initiative will benefit the regions of Ica, Arequipa, and Moquegua, and includes the installation of 923 kilometers of pipelines and three compression stations. Its development will help meet the growing energy demand in southern Peru and strengthen supply to thermal power plants such as Ilo Thermal Power Plant and Mollendo Thermal Power Plant.

“We have projects and technical solutions that are advancing. It is necessary to continue diversifying energy sources and promoting coordinated efforts so that more people can access this service,” stated the Executive Director of PROINVERSIÓN, Luis Del Carpio.

Additionally, PROINVERSIÓN is promoting potential projects aimed at expanding energy infrastructure. Among them is the Cusco Regional Gas Pipeline, which would connect the natural gas transportation system with the cities of Quillabamba, Anta, and Cusco. This project, with an estimated investment of US$ 780 million, includes the installation of 314 kilometers of pipelines and would benefit more than 550,000 people.

Likewise, the development of the La Convención Fractionation Plant is being evaluated, with an estimated investment of US$ 30 million, aimed at LPG production and bottling. For this project, execution through the Works for Taxes mechanism has been proposed. In addition, a gas liquefaction plant in the same area is under evaluation, and its investment modality could be developed as an Asset Project.

Currently, PROINVERSIÓN has three natural gas projects in operation: the northern concession for natural gas massification, the Ica Regional Gas Pipeline, and the southern concession for natural gas massification, which together have contributed to expanding access to this resource across various regions of the country.

With this portfolio, PROINVERSIÓN reaffirms its role in promoting strategic investments that strengthen energy security, expand access to essential services, and contribute to the country’s sustainable development.
