THIRTEEN PROJECTS TOTALING S/242 MILLION WERE AWARDED THROUGH WORKS FOR TAXES IN THE FIRST HALF YEAR

The Private Investment Promotion Agency (ProInversión) reports that 13 projects totaling S/. 242 million soles were awarded in the first half year to be executed through the Works for Taxes system.

 Lima, July 8th, 2016.– The Private Investment Promotion Agency (ProInversión) reports that 13 projects totaling S/. 242 million soles were awarded in the first half year to be executed through the Works for Taxes system.
The investment committed in the first six months this year exceeds by 624% the amount registered for the same period in 2015, and is about 81% of the year amount awarded in 2015.

Among the projects awarded in the first half year we can name the following: Upgrade of the Departmental Highway – Kahuish Tunnel, for S/ 86.3 million, puto ut to tender by Regional Government of Ancash and awarded to Compañía Minera Antamina S.A.; Construction of the Juan Pablo II vehicular bridge and footbridge plus accesses in Piura, for S/ 47.9 million, put out to tender by the Regional Government of Piura and awarded to Banco Internacional del Perú S.A.A. (Interbank); Upgrading and expansion of public safety service in Santiago de Cusco district (Cusco), for S/ 23 million, put out to tender by the District City Council of Santiago and awarded to Telefónica del Perú S.A.A.; and Upgrading of the Camino Vecinal for S/ 15.4 million put out to tender by by the District City Council of Yarinacocha, Coronel Portillo province, departmento of Ucayali, awarded to Turismo Civa S.A.C. During the first six months of 2016, eight (08) Public Entities joined the Works for Taxes programme: the Santa Teresa district City Council in La Convención, Cusco; the Yarinacocha district City Council in Coronel Portillo, Ucayali; the Quilahuaní district City Council in Candarave, Tacna; the Huancayo province City Council in Junín; the Santiago district City Council in Cusco, Cusco; the Alto Selva Alegre district City Council in Arequipa, Arequipa; the Ministry of Education and the Cusco Regional Government. Whereas on the Private Sector the following three (03) companies decided to joint: Real Plaza S.R.L. as a consortium, and individually Ernst & Young Asesores Sociedad Civil de Responsabilidad Limitada and Red de Energía del Perú S.A. – ISA REP, joining the group of private companies and corporations that contribute with their taxes to speedy and efficient public investment.
The comprehensive strategy to strengthen capacities displayed by ProInversión from the beginning of the current administrations of the regional and local governments, has allowed for these important results. This strategy has included, in the first half year of 2016, dissemination, capacity strengthening and technical assistance efforts. Overall, there were over 54 decentralized workshops where authorities, public officials, business people and the general public took part, in each of the country’s departments, through the ten (10) decentralized assistance offices our agency has.

ACCUMULATED RESULTS
So far, Works for Taxes has had over S/ 2,186 million soles committed to 213 public investment projects. This has been possible thanks to the commitment and joint work of 15 Regional Governments, 28 Province City Councils, 71 District City Councils, 1 National Government Agency and 67 companies that are participating in funding public investment projects through this programme.
The sectors where Works for Taxers is more predominant investment-wise are Transportation (44%), Sanitation (21%), Education (16%), Health (7%) and Safety (5%). Taking into account the number of projects we see the same sectors, but with a different percentage in participation: transportation (34%), Education (30%), Sanitation (18%), Safety (5%) and Health (4%).
