Lima, October 15, 2025.- The Private Investment Promotion Agency (PROINVERSIÓN) announced that this month it will incorporate into the investment promotion process, under the Co-Financed Public-Private Partnership (PPP) modality, the project “New Port Terminals of Loreto (Iquitos and Saramiriza)”, which will modernize and expand the port infrastructure in the Loreto region.
Next week, the Project Formulation phase is expected to be completed with the approval of the Evaluation Report, which establishes the project’s feasibility under the PPP mechanism and its incorporation into PROINVERSIÓN’s private investment promotion process. This stage is essential to ensure that the project is technically robust, sustainable, and generates value for both the public and private sectors.
Subsequently, the Structuring phase will begin, in which all aspects necessary for concession delivery will be defined, such as the economic-financial, legal, socio-environmental, land, and general project risk frameworks, as well as the drafting of the concession contract that will allow its future award through an international public tender; the call for tender is scheduled for the second half of 2026.
The New Loreto Port Terminals project, which includes the Sinchicuy Port Terminal and the Saramiriza Port Terminal, has a total estimated investment of US$ 181 million and involves the construction and modernization of two port terminals located in the provinces of Maynas and Datem del Marañón. These facilities will feature storage areas, cargo piers, operational zones, and specialized equipment to handle the loading and unloading of long-range vessels.
Additionally, the project includes the implementation of an efficient operational structure, the hiring and training of specialized personnel, and the adoption of modern port management standards and procedures aimed at improving service quality and efficiency.
The main beneficiaries will be the companies and residents of the provinces of Maynas and Datem del Marañón, who will experience increased dynamism in productive and commercial activity, boosting local economic development.
The modernization of the Iquitos and Saramiriza ports will enable greater efficiency in the transport of goods, reducing costs and logistics times, and promoting the country’s economic integration with Brazil and the Atlantic basin.
PROINVERSIÓN is preparing the technical studies for the project under the Collaboration and Assignment Agreement signed in March 2025 with the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) and the National Port Authority (APN) for the development of port terminal projects in Loreto and Pucallpa (Ucayali).
