PROINVERSIÓN promotes six PPP projects worth over US$2.8 billion to benefit the Piura region

The Ministry of Economy and Finance, through the Private Investment Promotion Agency (PROINVERSIÓN), announced that it has six projects in its portfolio for the benefit of the Piura region, with a total amount exceeding US$ 2.8 billion. These projects will be awarded between 2025 and 2027 under the Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) and Projects in Assets modalities.

Piura, October 6, 2025.- The Ministry of Economy and Finance, through the Private Investment Promotion Agency (PROINVERSIÓN), announced that it has six projects in its portfolio for the benefit of the Piura region, with a total amount exceeding US$ 2.8 billion. These projects will be awarded between 2025 and 2027 under the Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) and Projects in Assets modalities.

This was reported by PROINVERSIÓN’s Executive Director, Tabata Vivanco, during her presentation “Infrastructure Projects for Competitiveness in Piura”, held at the Piura Region Economic Forum, organized by the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP).

The official highlighted that these are strategic projects in key sectors for regional competitiveness and well-being. In Water and Sanitation, the Paita–Talara Desalination Plant and the Talara WWTP are included, with an investment of US$ 150 million benefiting 300,000 inhabitants. In Transport, the Empalme 1B – Buenos Aires – Canchaque Highway project in Huancabamba will require US$ 179 million to improve connectivity for 277,000 people.

In Health, the Sullana II-2 Support Hospital will be developed, with an investment of US$ 193 million, benefiting more than 645,000 residents of Piura. Additionally, in the mining sector, the PROINVERSIÓN director highlighted the non-metallic Sechura project, with US$ 2.1 billion in investment, which will consolidate Piura as a mining hub of national relevance.

She also mentioned two electricity transmission projects, worth US$ 147 million, which will strengthen urban and rural energy supply. “These investments consolidate the energy capacity necessary to sustain Piura’s long-term economic growth and competitiveness,” Vivanco emphasized.

The event was inaugurated by the President of the BCRP, Julio Velarde, and attended by the Regional Governor of Piura, Luis Neyra, along with various regional authorities. The Economic Forum will continue until October 7.
