Lima, January 26, 2026.- The Executive Director of the Private Investment Promotion Agency – PROINVERSIÓN, Luis Del Carpio, presented to the Congress of the Republic the Health Sector project portfolio for 2026, which contemplates an investment of US$ 3.3 billion for the benefit of more than 2.5 million citizens.
During the Fourth Extraordinary Session of PROINVERSIÓN’s Special Multi-Party Commission, the head of the Agency explained that five projects are currently being promoted in the regions of Lima and Piura, which will contribute to a substantial improvement in the provision of healthcare services.
Among the initiatives, he highlighted the management project of the National Institute of Child Health – San Borja, with an estimated investment of US$ 317 million, which will strengthen timely and high-quality care for more than 300,000 children and adolescents. The project includes the provision of non-medical (general) services, as well as support and diagnostic assistance services such as laboratory and sterilization, under the so-called grey/green gown model.
Likewise, one of the flagship projects included in the portfolio is the New Central Military Hospital, which entails an investment of US$ 751 million and a 30-year concession term. This initiative provides the replacement of the existing infrastructure with a modern facility, while ensuring the sustainability of healthcare service delivery to the beneficiary population.
In the same vein, the New Hipólito Unanue Hospital project is being promoted, which will feature specialized, high-complexity infrastructure and will require an estimated investment of US$ 1.69 billion. This project will have a direct impact on improving the health and well-being of more than 200,000 residents.
In northern Peru, the Operation and Maintenance project of the Sullana II-2 Support Hospital will be developed, incorporating services under the grey and green gown schemes, for the benefit of more than 645,000 citizens.
The portfolio also includes the Integrated Solid Waste Management project for 430 Ministry of Health healthcare facilities in Metropolitan Lima. This project encompasses the construction, operation, and maintenance of infrastructure for the treatment of special and biohazardous solid waste, as well as the provision of services for the conditioning, segregation, storage, transportation, treatment, and final disposal of such waste.
Finally, Del Carpio noted that in the coming months, the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) contract for the Operation and Maintenance project of the Villa El Salvador Emergency Hospital—awarded in July 2025—will be signed. This initiative involves an investment of US$ 284 million, including infrastructure rehabilitation, replacement and acquisition of clinical and non-clinical equipment, as well as the management of services under the grey gown model.
