PROINVERSION PRESENTED 18 ELECTRICITY TRANSMISSION PROJECTS WORTH OVER USD 930 MILLION

These projects, commissioned by the Ministry of Energy and Mines, will be developed under a public-private partnership and will benefit 13 departments and eight million Peruvians.

Lima, September 5, 2025.- Reaffirming its commitment to the country’s energy expansion, the Private Investment Promotion Agency – PROINVERSIÓN – announced the “Launch of 18 Electrical Transmission Projects for the National Interconnected Electrical System (SEIN for its acronym in Spanish),” which will be awarded and executed through Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), with an approximate investment of USD 930 million.

Of the 18 electrical transmission projects, 16 correspond to the 2025-2034 Transmission Plan, commissioned by the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) in February of this year, and the other two (2) are part of the 2023-2032 Plan.

The executive director of PROINVERSIÓN, Tabata Vivanco del Castillo, highlighted that the implementation of the new portfolio of electrical transmission projects will strengthen the National Interconnected Electricity System (SEIN), providing key support for economic recovery, as well as guaranteeing electricity supply in 13 departments of the country, benefiting more than eight million Peruvians.

“At PROINVERSIÓN, we will continue to strengthen the synergy between the public and private sectors, where investors will continue to be strategic partners of the State, hand in hand with the Ministry of Energy and Mines and our institution, which acts as an investment facilitator and generator of a favorable environment for investing in Peru,” she said.

She also emphasized that PROINVERSION maintains an open-door policy to welcome investors and provide them with all the necessary information about the project portfolio. “Our goal as a government is to close gaps and improve the quality of life for all Peruvians,” said Vivanco del Castillo.

PROINVERSIÓN’s goal is to award the 18 projects in 2026, which is why, last July, groups 1 and 2 were incorporated into the promotion process, and a call for bids is expected in October and December, respectively. Group 1 includes four (4) transmission lines with an investment of USD 231 million, which will benefit the departments of Piura, Lambayeque, Junin, and Ayacucho. Group 2 includes four (4) electricity transmission projects with an investment of USD 444 million, which will benefit Cuzco, Puno, Madre de Dios, Lima, and Ica.

Groups 3 and 4 will be put out to tender in the first quarter of 2026. Group 3 will require an investment of USD 137 million for five (5) transmission lines in the regions of La Libertad, Piura, Lima, and Junin. Group 4 includes another five (5) transmission lines, for USD 122 million, in the departments of San Martin, Junin, Ucayali, Ica, and Tacna.

These projects will be promoted and developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. PPPs have become an effective tool because they allow for adequate risk allocation, generate significant savings for the State, and contribute to efficiency and competitiveness.

Through these 18 SEIN projects, PROINVERSIÓN continues to reaffirm its commitment to strengthening and increasing the country’s electrical infrastructure, which allows for the continuous, reliable, and sustainable delivery of energy.
