Lima, March 12, 2026.- The Private Investment Promotion Agency – PROINVERSIÓN, launched the Comprehensive Projects Competition to award five electricity transmission projects that will require an estimated investment of US$ 165 million.

These initiatives are promoted by PROINVERSIÓN on behalf of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM), under the modality of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), with the objective of strengthening the electrical transmission infrastructure and improving the reliability of the energy supply in areas located in the regions of Piura, La Libertad, Lima and Junín, benefiting approximately 1.4 million inhabitants.

Among the initiatives announced, two projects in the La Libertad region stand out: the “138 kV Nueva Virú – Trujillo Sur Link, expansions and associated substations”, with an estimated investment of US$ 19 million, and the “New Substation Moche 220/138 kV and associated links”, which will require approximately US$ 37.7 million and will allow the expansion of the transmission network to the south of the city of Trujillo.

In the Piura region, two additional projects will be developed: the “220 kV Miguel Grau – Sullana Link”, with an approximate investment of US$ 47.2 million, which will reinforce the electricity supply in the urban area of Sullana and allow the expansion of the network towards Cieneguillo and Tambogrande; and the “220 kV Miguel Grau – Chulucanas Link”, with an estimated investment of US$ 36.2 million, aimed at improving the reliability of the service in Chulucanas, Morropón and Loma Larga.

Also noteworthy is the “New Substation Antuquito Este 220/50 kV and associated links” project, located between the Lima and Junín regions, which involves an approximate investment of US$ 25.3 million and will strengthen the electrical transmission in the Morococha, Casapalca and San Mateo area.

These five projects are part of the so-called Group 3 of initiatives contemplated in the 2023-2032 and 2025-2034 Transmission Plans, one of the four project packages included in these plans, which will be awarded between 2026 and 2027 with the aim of expanding and modernizing the country’s electricity transmission infrastructure.

The concession includes the design, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of the infrastructure for a period of 30 years from its commercial start-up, at the end of which the facilities will be transferred to the Peruvian State.

Interested investors must demonstrate compliance with the technical, legal, and financial requirements established in the competition rules to be qualified as bidders. The contract will be awarded to the bidder who submits the most economical offer, that is, the lowest total service cost, which will allow for optimized rates for end users.

Group 3 is expected to be awarded during the fourth quarter of 2026, while the signing of the concession contracts will take place at the beginning of 2027.
