Lima, September 17, 2025.- A new milestone toward the future concession of the Third Group of Airports. In technical meetings held at the Regional Government of Áncash and the Provincial Municipality of Alto Amazonas (Loreto) on September 9 and 11, respectively, PROINVERSIÓN and the consulting firm CEMOSA Ingeniería y Control presented the final results of the technical studies for the modernization of the Teniente FAP Jaime Montreuil Morales Airport (Nuevo Chimbote) and the Moisés Benzaquen Rengifo Airport (Yurimaguas).
Both terminals are part of the Third Group of Airports, which is promoted by the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) and the Ministry of Economy and Finance through PROINVERSIÓN, under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
In the meetings with the Deputy Governor of Áncash, Angelly Epifanía Chávez, and the Provincial Mayor of Alto Amazonas, Roy Saldaña Reyes, it was reported that the scope of interventions at both airports includes remodeling of the passenger terminal and the Rescue and Firefighting (RFF) area, improvements to technical buildings, rehabilitation of the runway and access roads, as well as the selected alternative for air operations at the airports, ensuring safety, flight continuity, and improved air connectivity in these regions.
With a preliminary investment of US$ 220 million (excluding VAT), benefiting 3.6 million passengers per year, the Third Group of Airports project involves the modernization, rehabilitation, improvement, operation, and maintenance of airports located in Jaén (Cajamarca), Huánuco (Huánuco), Jauja (Junín), Ilo (Moquegua), Rioja (San Martín), Nuevo Chimbote (Áncash), and Yurimaguas (Loreto). It also includes the operation and maintenance of the Chinchero International Airport (Cusco), with the aim of increasing air connectivity and developing efficient and safe airport services with private sector participation.
With this progress in Nuevo Chimbote and Yurimaguas, PROINVERSIÓN moves closer to the promotion phase and future concession of this important project that will boost regional competitiveness.
