Radio Spectrum bands
PROINVERSIÓN has re-launched the Special Public Bidding to award under the modality of Projects in Assets, the AWS-3 and 2.3 GHz Bands, in the following frequency ranges:
- Block A of the AWS-3 Band: 15 MHz + 15 MHz, in the frequency range 1,750 - 1,765 MHz and 2,150 - 2,165 MHz.
- Block B of the AWS-3 Band: 15 MHz + 15 MHz, in the frequency range 1,765 - 1,780 MHz and 2,165 - 2,180 MHz.
- The Single Block of the 2.3 GHz Band: 30 MHz, in the frequency range 2,300 - 2,330 MHz.
- Bidders may submit their queries to the Bidding Terms and suggestions to the intermediate version of the Contracts until February 28, 2023.
- The deadline for prequalification of bidders is April 5, 2023.
PROINVERSIÓN has re-launched the Special Public Bidding to award the Radio Spectrum Bands projects, under the modality of Projects in Assets, which will provide and improve the 4G mobile service (voice and data) in different communities and areas in Peru. In coordination with the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), modifications have been incorporated to the Bidding Terms and an intermediate version of the Contracts has been published, in order to generate more competition and ensure that the 4G mobile service reaches a greater number of locations.
Currently, according to the new terms established for the re-launch of the Bidding, the AWS-3 Band is divided into two blocks: Block A, of 2x15 MHz and Block B, of 2x15 MHz. This segmentation into blocks will make it easier for a bidder to bid for one or both blocks. For its part, the 2.3 GHz band remains in a single 30 MHz block.
The allocation of these blocks will be defined exclusively on the basis of the offer made by the bidders in relation to the locations to be implemented within a certain period of time (Mandatory Investment Commitments).
The operators awarded these projects will provide public telecommunications services (telephone and internet) with better coverage characteristics and greater capacity for data traffic, allowing a greater number of rural localities to access distance education and telehealth services, improving the quality of their communications, thanks to 4G technology.
The estimated investment (excluding VAT) for the AWS-3 Band (Block A and B) and 2.3 GHz Band corresponds to the following amounts:
