THE MINISTRY OF ECONOMY AND FINANCE GIVES ITS FAVORABLE OPINION TO CONTRACTS FOR ESSALUD HOSPITAL

January 12, 2023 - Lima.- The Private Investment Promotion Agency PROINVERSIÓN informs that after receiving FONAFE's pronouncement on budgetary capacity and ESSALUD's favorable opinion, the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) also issued a favorable opinion on the final version of the contract of the EsSalud hospitals of Piura and Chimbote, which will be executed with a net investment of more than S/. 1.2 billion.

The process continues and the contract will be sent to the Comptroller General of the Republic (CGR) for its prior opinion. Once this stage has been completed, the date for the submission of technical proposals and economic offers for the award of the project will be announced, which is expected to take place during the first half of this year.
Four bidders from America and Asia have been prequalified to compete in the international tender for the delivery of both concession projects, which will be executed under the co-financed Public-Private Partnership (PPP) modality.

PROJECT BENEFITS

The projects of the EsSalud hospitals of Piura and Chimbote will increase the access to specialized services offered to the insured people and also include the acquisition and replacement of equipment, the maintenance of the hospital infrastructure, as well as the provision of general services and support services in the gray and green coat modality. None of them consider the provision of medical services, since they will continue to be under the responsibility of the Government, through ESSALUD.

The cost of both projects will be covered with the contributions of the insured people by directly benefiting more than 530 thousand insured people in the department of Ancash, and more than 1 million 100 thousand insured people in the departments of Piura and Tumbes who will continue to receive free medical assistance.

Finally, these projects will generate new direct and indirect jobs, regarding care and non-care personnel work positions in the Hospital of Chimbote (796) and in the Hospital of Piura (1,234).
