The Ministry of Energy and Mines and Consorcio Transmantaro S.A. entered into the two concession contracts for the “220/60 kV Chincha Nueva Substation” and “Nazca Nueva 220/60 kV Substation” projects, as well as the respective Peruvian State’s security and guarantee contract. PROINVERSIÓN reported that these investments will benefit the department of Ica.

Interconexión Eléctrica S.A. E.S.P. (ISA) was awarded the contract for that project last December. Its bid included a total investment amounting to US$ 18’339,108.00 for the two substations and a total annual operation and maintenance cost of US$ 678,548.00. Subsequently, ISA has designated Consorcio Transmantaro S.A., as the concessionaire for both projects.

The award process was very competitive, as six international operators submitted their economic bids. The bid submitted by the successful consortium was 53% and 63% lower than the maximum amounts established in the bidding process (US$ 39.0 and 1.8 million), respectively.

The Executive Director of PROINVERSIÓN, Rafael Ugaz, emphasized that thanks to both projects it will be possible to reduce the operation of current electrical installations, which will attract new investments and industrial projects; that is, more work and progress for the benefit of Chincha and Nazca.

He also announced that, during this year, ProInversión plans to award the contract of two electricity transmission projects in favor of the development of the north and east of the country, with a joint investment of more than US$ 220 million (without VAT).

Likewise, the legal representative of Consorcio Transmantaro SA, Carlos Mario Caro Sánchez, was satisfied with the execution of the contracts and pointed out that these substations are very important for Ica and Peru, since agroexport requires more energy and reliability for power supply. Likewise, he announced that they will continue to bet on the economic recovery of the country, aiming to lead the transformation of the electricity sector by 2030.

The “220/60 kV Chincha Nueva Substation” project will allow to timely meet the growth in demand for electricity and the operational needs of the electrical system in the province of Chincha, especially in the districts of Chincha, El Carmen, Pueblo Nuevo, Pedregal and Tambo de Mora.

On its part, the “New Nazca 220/60 kV Substation” project will improve the quality of the power supply in the Nazca-Palpa-Puquio, Palpa Rural, Puquio Rural, Cora Cora and Nazca Rural Electrical Systems.

The term of each concession is 30 years, plus the construction term, estimated at 30 months. The term of each contract will be calculated as from the date of execution of the respective contract.

The upcoming commencement of both projects is the result of intense and coordinated work between PROINVERSIÓN, the Ministry of Energy and Mines, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and Osinergmin.
