Lima, August 2, 2021.- The Minister of Economy and Finance, Pedro Francke, met today in the afternoon with the President of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP), Julio Velarde, to establish the necessary coordination between both institutions to maintain macroeconomic and monetary stability in the country.
"It is important for us to reassure markets and investors. Macroeconomic stability is going to be maintained and it is essential that we can have close coordination with the BCRP, within a framework of fiscal and monetary responsibility, since everyone's objective is for the economy to continue recovering and growing to generate the jobs that the population requires", informed Minister Francke.
During the meeting, Minister Francke and the President of the BCRP, Julio Velarde, evaluated the macroeconomic situation and agreed on mechanisms to develop close coordination between both institutions, respecting the autonomy of the Central Reserve Bank and with the objective of preserving macroeconomic stability, a fundamental pillar of the Peruvian economy.
Regarding Julio Velarde's continuity at the head of the BCRP, Minister Francke informed that he is favorably considering the proposal.
