Mining exports already exceed Pre-pandemic levels
Lima, July 13, 2021.- Peru’s mining exports reached US$ 14,639 million in the first five months of 2021, an amount 68.8% higher than the similar period last year (US$ 8,672 million), according to the National Society of Mining, Petroleum and Energy (SNMPE, for its acronym in Spanish).
He also highlighted that the result for the January-May 2021 period (US$ 14,639 million), is higher than the pre-pandemic stage, such as the similar period of 2019 (US$ 11,002 million), which in turn show an increase of 33.1%.
The mining and energy trade union also explained that copper exports in the aforementioned period of 2021 amounted to US$ 7,515 million, meaning an increase of 83.2% compared to the first five months of 2020 (US$ 4,103 million).
Also, gold exports totaled US$ 3,698 million, 33.6% higher than in the same period of 2020 (US$ 2,768 million).
