Lima, August 10, 2021.- The Regional Government of Ancash presented an attractive portfolio of 36 projects to be executed through the Works for Taxes mechanism, with an investment commitment of more than S/ 600 million; as well as other 29 projects prioritized by nine (9) Local Governments, for an investment amount that exceeds S/ 160 million, PROINVERSIÓN reported.
During the virtual event, which attracted the attention of representatives of various private companies, it was highlighted that the portfolio of projects prioritized by the regional entity is mainly concentrated in projects in agriculture, health, education, transportation, sanitation, tourism, among others, and it will benefit the 20 provinces of the department of Ancash.
Among these, 4 important projects stand out that will close the health gap for more than S/ 72 million for the benefit of the population of Ancash. In addition, 11 agriculture projects were presented for more than S/ 79 million in eight (8) provinces of the department of Ancash.
In this portfolio, 11 education projects with high social impact also stand out, which require a referential investment of S/ 236 million, such as the improvement of educational services with ICT (Information Technology) applications in educational institutions of preschool, elementary and secondary level in the 20 provinces of the department of Ancash, becoming the sector with the highest investment prioritized by the Regional Government of Ancash.
Other key projects are the improvement of educational services of the Santa Rosa de Viterbo I.E, in the district and province of Huaraz, with an investment of more than S/ 60 million; as well as a multidistrict project to improve the vehicular traffic of the neighborhood road and departmental road in the districts of Pallasca and Conchucos, which will benefit more than 30 thousand residents of the province of Pallasca and will require an estimated investment of S/ 50 million.
The regional governor of Ancash, Henry Borja Cruzado, thanked the promotional space generated by PROINVERSIÓN, and called on private companies to participate in the financing and execution of these projects through Works for Taxes. "Having the participation of private companies is a great opportunity for us to carry out many more projects and with them reactivate the economy of our region," he said.
"Works for Taxes is one of the most important public investment mechanisms that has been contributing to the reactivation of our economy, closing the gaps in social infrastructure, enhancing our competitiveness, and improving the quality of life of Peruvians. We welcome the active participation of public entities and call on more private companies to commit to the mechanism," said Denisse Miralles, director of the Decentralized Investments Directorate of PROINVERSIÓN.

OXI potential in Ancash
The Regional Government of Ancash has an available budget of more than S/ 530 million to carry out Works for Taxes. In this sense, it is expected that this year, in Ancash, more projects will be awarded through this mechanism, as a result of the hard work being carried out by the technical team of the Regional Government of Ancash with the technical assistance of PROINVERSIÓN.
Around 18 million Peruvians have been benefited from the development of 434 Works for Taxes, for an amount of S/ 5,654 million nationwide, since the mechanism was launched in 2009.
Regarding PROINVERSIÓN, being a State entity, it provides free advice and technical assistance to national government entities, subnational governments, and public universities; articulating them with private companies interested in financing these projects. The selection and award processes are in charge of the public entities that own the projects.
